Banshimoku is a two-piece rock band from Tokyo featuring vocalist/guitarist Chiga shion, who captivates audiences with her powerful, soulful voice, and drummer Yamato Iohara, whose emotionally charged, primal playing forms the core of their music.

They co-write all their songs, fusing Western and Japanese alternative rock with their own unique sensibility to create a sound that is simple yet addictive.

Their sharp and surreal lyrics—a blend of the impulse to “tell the truth” and the romantic desire to “keep dreaming”—captivate listeners’ hearts.

In addition to domestic festivals such as SUMMER SONIC, MONSTER baSH, Inazuma Rock Festival, and Muro Fest, they are expanding their reach overseas, having performed on a Canadian tour and at Taiwan’s Vagabond Fest. in 2025, and are scheduled to appear at SXSW in 2026.
