Formed in Kyoto in 2009, this five-piece instrumental rock band—featuring a flute as its lead instrument—has been performing with its current lineup since 2016.

 

Their name derives from the phrase “Architecture is solidified music.” They advocate “multidimensional rock” that transcends genres such as progressive rock and post-rock to bridge classical and contemporary music, and continue to produce songs in which structured rhythms are guided by the graceful sound of the flute.

 

In addition to performing alongside bands such as jizue, fox capture plan, Kore Kyojin, and Uchu Konbini, they also collaborate under the name “Melting (Wooden) Architecture”—a duo featuring flute and piano—on projects with lacquer artists, calligraphers, and dancers. They are currently preparing to record new material.

 

Flutist Raku Sakamoto serves as a recording and touring member for Tomoyo Harada and is also active as a classical musician.
