brkfstblend is a Tokyo-based trio formed in the summer of 2023, consisting of singer-songwriter Michael Kaneko (vocals/guitar), bassist Keity, and drummer Tetsuji Kasuya. Within just six months of their formation, they successfully completed a 10-date tour across Japan, quickly establishing themselves as one of the most active new bands on the scene.

Their sound blends the warmth of 1970s–80s American AOR, soul, and psychedelic rock with modern elements and playful originality. This unique mix of nostalgia and freshness has earned them attention both in Japan and abroad. In July 2024, they released their debut EP City Habits, followed by their first full-length album brkfstblend in February 2025. The album showcases a wide musical palette, incorporating influences from AOR, classic rock, disco, and Asian indie pop, further defining the band’s musical identity. Recorded partly in Bangkok, the project also reflects their creative exchanges with local musicians, underlining a global perspective. In 2025, Brkfstblend is set to reach new heights with performances at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL in Japan and HENGCHUN FESTIVAL in Taiwan.
